Christopher C. Rising
President
Mr. Rising is founder and President of The Rising
Real Estate Group, a privately held real estate investment company
based in downtown Los Angeles, California. Mr. Rising, a graduate of
Duke University and Loyola Law School, began his professional career as
an associate at Pillsbury Madison & Sutro (now known as Pillsbury
Winthrop LLP) working under Michael Meyer, Esq., nationally recognized
as the premier attorney for representing tenants in their lease
negotiations. Mr. Rising then spent several years at Cushman Realty
Corporation ("CRC") working in the Office of the President
– directly alongside brokerage legend John C. Cushman, III,
currently Chairman of the Board of Cushman & Wakefield, Inc.
("C&W").
Prior to creating The Rising Real Estate Group, Mr.
Rising was a Director at C&W, joining the company after its merger
with CRC. As a real estate broker, Mr. Rising participated in a variety
of complex real estate transactions, including the purchase of the
Great Western Forum, the sale of the Pacific Design Center, the
restructuring of debt for a major Chicago office and retail
development, and confidential real estate consulting for a Los Angeles
based, high net worth individual. His role in the Office of the
President also required that he lead negotiations and interactions with
officials for both the City of Los Angeles and the State of California.
Further, Mr. Rising was the point person for CRC in its partnership
with UBS, both domestically and internationally.
Mr. Rising has represented international law firms
for their office space needs and negotiated lease transactions across
the country for major corporate relocations. Some of Mr. Rising's
clients during his brokerage career included: Dewey Ballantine, LLP, La
Quinta Inns, Webcore Builders, Quellos Group, Holliday Fenoglio Fowler,
LLP, Earthlink Network, Consul General of Japan, Market Place
Radio/Minnesota Public Radio, The Brain Technologies and Standard
Pacific Capital.
Mr. Rising received his Bachelor of Arts degree at
Duke University with a dual major in history and political science. He
attended Duke on a football scholarship (he was the recipient of
coaching great Steve Spurrier's first scholarship after becoming head
coach in 1987) and was a four-year varsity letterman. He was a starting
linebacker and played on Duke's 1989 Atlantic Coast Conference
Championship team. After his graduation from Duke University, Mr.
Rising became a United States history and western civilization teacher
as well as a football coach at his alma mater, Loyola High School of
Los Angeles. In 1996, Mr. Rising received his Juris Doctor from Loyola
Law School in Los Angeles and while in law school, he served as an
extern clerk in the federal court of the Honorable William Matthew
Byrne, Jr., the chief judge of the Central District.
Mr. Rising is active in politics both in Los
Angeles and nationally. He has served as an outside advisor to several
local elected officials and candidates. He has also taught a real
estate leasing class at the University of Southern California's Marshal
School of Business. Mr. Rising currently serves as President of the
Loyola High School Alumni Association, and has been active in
fundraising for the City of Hope, Verdugo Hills Hospital and Duke
University.
